Terms of service
The agreement between you and McBourne Enterprises for your use of shareskills.
Last updated: 27 July 2026
This agreement
These terms are between you and McBourne Enterprises and govern your use of shareskills. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. If you are agreeing on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to bind that organisation.
If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Your account
You need an account to use shareskills. Give us accurate details and keep them current. You are responsible for what happens under your account, so keep your password and API tokens to yourself.
API tokens are passwords. Do not paste one into a chat with an AI assistant, commit one to a repository, or share one with a colleague — mint them their own. If a token is exposed, revoke it immediately from your tokens page.
Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has accessed your account.
Organisations and roles
Skills live in an organisation. Whoever creates an organisation is its owner and controls it: they can invite and remove members, set roles, transfer ownership, export the organisation’s data and delete it.
Your role determines what you can do. Owners and admins can write to any skill and approve suggested changes. Members can create their own skills and edit the ones they created; their edits to other people’s skills become suggestions for review. Viewers can read.
Content created in an organisation is the organisation’s, not the individual member’s. If you leave or are removed, the skills you authored stay with the organisation.
Your content
You keep ownership of the skills and other content you put into shareskills. We claim no ownership of it.
You grant us the limited licence we need to actually run the service: to store your content, display it to the people you have shared it with, and transmit it to the AI tools you connect. That licence ends when you delete the content, except for copies in backups that expire on their normal cycle.
You are responsible for having the right to upload what you upload, and for making sure it does not contain anything you are not permitted to share — including other people’s confidential information, credentials or personal data.
Publishing to the public directory
You can publish a skill to the public directory, where anyone can read and install it. Only an owner or admin can do that, deliberately.
Understand that publishing is effectively irreversible. You can unpublish a skill, and we will stop serving it — but we cannot recall copies that other people have already installed. Do not publish anything you would not put on a public website.
AI tools, and what a skill actually is
A skill is a set of instructions that an AI assistant reads and acts on. That is the point of the product, and it is also the risk you need to hold.
When you install a skill, you are choosing to let an AI tool follow instructions written by whoever wrote it. Read a skill before you rely on it, especially one from the public directory — treat it as untrusted content from a stranger, not as verified software. We do not review, endorse or vet skills published by other users.
We do not control the AI tools you connect or the providers behind them, and we are not responsible for what they do with the content we send them at your request, or for the output they produce. Check anything consequential yourself.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Upload or publish anything unlawful, infringing, malicious, or designed to deceive.
- Write skills intended to make an AI tool exfiltrate data, bypass a security control, or act against the interests of the person running it.
- Attempt to access another organisation’s data, probe or interfere with the service, or work around rate limits, access controls or the roles described above.
- Use the service to send unsolicited messages, or to spam other organisations with join requests.
- Resell or sublicense the service, or use it to build a competing product from our content.
- Misrepresent who you are, or use an email address you are not entitled to use.
Plans, seats and payment
Current plans, seat allowances and prices are shown on our home page. The free tier requires no payment details.
Paid plans are charged per additional user per month in Australian dollars. If your organisation exceeds its seat allowance you will be prompted to upgrade; we will not silently bill you for growth.
We may change prices. If a change affects an organisation on a paid plan, we will give its owner at least 30 days’ notice by email before it applies.
Availability
We work to keep shareskills available, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we offer no uptime guarantee on the free tier. The service runs from a single region and may be unavailable during maintenance, upgrades or events outside our control.
We may change, add or remove features. If we remove something you depend on, we will give reasonable notice where we can.
Suspension and ending your account
You can stop using shareskills at any time. An organisation owner can delete their organisation, which removes its skills and memberships; a record of the deletion is retained in the audit trail.
We may suspend or terminate an account or organisation that breaches these terms, that we reasonably believe is being used to harm others, or where we are required to by law. Where circumstances allow, we will tell you why and give you a chance to put it right first.
On termination you lose access to the service. Export your data first if you want to keep it — an owner can do that from the organisation settings.
Warranties and liability
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where we are permitted to limit our liability for a failure to comply with a consumer guarantee, our liability is limited to supplying the service again or paying the cost of having it supplied again.
Otherwise, and to the extent the law allows: the service is provided “as is”; we exclude implied warranties; we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill; and our total liability arising out of or in connection with these terms is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or A$100.
We are specifically not liable for the consequences of actions an AI tool takes based on a skill, or for content published by other users.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top of this page, and for material changes we will notify account holders by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that place.
